My courageous cancer warrior Mother, Beverley Archibald, has passed away

It is with a heavy heart that I say our courageous, cancer warrior mother, Beverley Archibald, was called home to be with our Lord on Tuesday October 23rd, 2012. After bravely battling breast cancer which then metastasized to her brain and throughout her body, she left this world peacefully, with her children by her side, holding her hands and telling her how much she was loved, what a wonderful mother she had been and that our family is going to be ok because she had done such a good job raising us. She was a beautiful woman, inside and out, and fiercely protective of her family & friends. When she touched a life it was changed forever more for the good. Thank you so much for the love, support and beautiful cards of encouragement, she appreciated them all.

Close To My Heart Advent Calendar

Hi Everyone,

Just wanting to share with you a Close To My Heart project that I completed.  Close To My Heart's Workshop On The Go Advent Calendar Kit is a wonderfully fun to make, a beautiful gift to give and a festive Christmas Home Decor piece.  The kit comes with everything you need to complete this project with the exception of the Cricut Artiste Cartridge which allows you to cut out the boxes perfectly to fit in the cubby!  It comes with a full size stamp set that you can make use of all year round.  To give my project even more sparkle, I add Glitz Glitter Gel in Almond, Bronze, Red, Silver, Stardust and Green.  See the completed project below.

If you like the project but really are not interested in doing an Advent Calendar you can purchase the My Creations Cubby separately then use your Cricut Artiste Cartridge to make the boxes and you can turn your cubby into a fantastic storge for many different things, ie. Brad storage (On the front of each box just put a sample of the brads you will keep inside the box) Ribbon storage (Cut a slit or install a rivet into the front of each box to feed the ribbon out from inside the box) Pigment Ink Cubes storage, Cricut Cartridge storage (each box will hold up to 5 cartridges comfortably so you can actually store 125 cartridges in this tidy little cubby!) Embellishment storage (Each box measures approx 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" so you can fit very large embellishments and tons a tons of small embellishments too!)  These boxes would make great storage cubbies for silk flowers, washi tapes, spools of tread, skeins of embroidery floss etc. etc. etc.  So many ideas!!

If you would like any further information about these fabulous cubby's please email me at canadianpapershaper@gmail.com!  If you would like to purchase any of the items I discussed please click on the links and you will be taken to the Close To My Heart website from which you can make your purchases.

Blessings to all!

Transported back to my youth....

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to share a wonderful feeling I had today!

For an upcoming project I needed wax crayons and so I went to the department store and headed right to the Crayola section of the store....oh my things have changed from my youth!  Did you know you can buy a box of 120 crayons!!!  When I was a kid we were darned excited when the packages grew from 16 to 24 crayons in one box!!  That was as big as Armstrong landing on the Moon!  Well I decided not to over indulge in the largest box but I did get a childhood dream of a 96 crayon box, and it has a cool crayon sharpener built right in!  Will miracles never cease!?!? Clutching my newest craft supply I headed for the till and for home not knowing the time machine that would be awaiting there for me....

In my craft room, I carefully took the pen knife and cut the perforations to allow the angled lid to open.  I reached out nervously to open the box.  A huge wall of light flooded out and music sounded as I opened the box and cast my gaze onto 96 soldiers, some really sparkly, standing at attention, waiting to assist me in my newest project!  The smell instantly transported me to 1972, I was 8 years old and I was opening my stocking, desperate to get to that brand new box of crayons and the spectacular new coloring book that I traditionally found in my Christmas Stocking!  I would be able to tell by the shape of the gift, which one housed my brand new crayons...would there be new colors this year?!?!  It will be so wonderful to color those first pictures with sharp, SHARP crayons, as it didn't matter what sharpener you found in the junk drawer of the kitchen, it never got those crayons back to the 'new out of the box' sharp!  What a wonderful transportation back to my youth, and all from a box of crayons!!  My heart leaped with excitement, my mouth watered at the smell, and all I could think of was...Why didn't I buy a coloring book???!!!

Thanks for traveling back with me!  I will share the 'Crayon' project and tutorial with you once I have it all complete but first...know any good coloring book pages web sites? LOL  :-)
