Color Challenge

Hi Everyone!

One last challenge I completed...To use a given color palette to complete a project.  I used the new Close To My Heart 'Dotty for you' paper which includes Sweet Leaf, Sunset, Smoothie, Lagoon etc.  I had to incorporate black as well so I did that by including the filigree butterfly.

Thanks for stopping to look!

Cricut Craft Room Card

Hi Everyone!

What do you give a book lover for Mother's Day?  A bookmark of course!  I don't think it get's any cuter than this, if I do say so myself :)

Using the Cricut Craft Room and the Cricut Craft Room Exclusives - Page Pals, I made this cute little Angry Bird (labeled an owl in the digital file) which is a book corner marker.  Then using Cricut Craft Room Basics I cut the following;

I cut a scalloped rectangle with a scalloped circle cut out and ran that through my Vagabond with the Tim Holtz/Sizzix wood grain embossing folder.  Next I brushed over the wood grain with Distress Ink Brushed Corduroy to bring out embossing.

I cut out a circle in black, slightly larger than the scalloped circle cutout to place behind the wood grain on the card front.

I placed a punctuation bracket onto my CCR mat and stretched the length to make the tree branch.

I cut 6 of the 'cloud' (use shift then locate button at Row 5 Button 5) to be used as tree foliage.

To put the card together, glue black circle onto card front.  Use foam dimensionals to pop the wood grain tree over the black circle on the card front.  Build the Angry Bird and place him in the hole sliding the back of the bookmark inside until it comes to rest.  Use foam dimensionals to add the tree branch and leaves.  Stamp sentiment below the tree.

I would be happy to share my files so you could make your own card please become a follower of my blog  :)  If you would like the CCR and/or the Gypsy files I created just click the appropriate files below.  There are two files you will need - Angry Bird Bookmark & Angry Bird Card.

Hi Again!

Here I am again to eat more crow about saying I don't do many 1 picture/1 page layouts!  These challenges have really inspired me to dig out the old pictures, many of which there are only 1 or 2 pictures of an event in our lives and so I have begun these 1 picture/page layouts and I love them!

This layout was for a 'recipe challenge' and the recipe was;

Use at least 3 Cricut Images - I cut the large scalloped square, the extra large tab and the doily from the Close To My Heart - Artphilosophy cartridge

Use at least 3 patterned papers - The large dot, brown flower, pink flourish and the striped papers were all from an older My Minds Eye collection called Bohemia

Use a butterfly, bird or bug on the layout - I used the ladybug from an older cartridge called Doodlecharms

Machine, pen or hand stitching - I used my white signo pen to draw stitching around the large scalloped square and also around the hearts on the doily

Use the color yellow - Well I love the color yellow on this layout from which I cut a small scallloped square to hold my journaling about my sweet baby daughter, Courtenay, who sadly only got to have her grandpa (my Dad) in her life for 1 year.  He sure did love his 'Little Chick-a-dee' even if it was for just a short time.

My mom, Beverley, hand crocheted the flowers to put on this layout about her husband and granddaughter.

Thanks so much for stopping by and checking it out!

Springtime Themed Challenge

Hi Everyone!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I want to share a fun challenge I did.  I started a Cricut Club in my home town 2 years ago and we get together to make cards and layouts using only scraps!  I love to show people how to get even more out of that paper by using up every last scrap!

Other than the 1 sheet of 12x12 for the background, this entire layout was done out of my scraps bin.  Yesterday I posted how I hardly ever do one picture layouts but I'm eating my words today as this photo was taken in 1985, back when photography involved film and pricey processing so pictures were taken sparingly.  This is my little nephew playing with his new spring toys we had given him for Easter.

I used the Cricut Cartridge B is for Boy for the toys and the 'here comes trouble', Don Juan and George & basic shapes for the title letters and finally CTMH Art Philosophy for the banners  I also used Cuttlebug folders to emboss the feet, the title letters and the 'here comes trouble'.

I took pictures to show my scraps box, all the scraps I intended on using (had to add one more piece of yellow scrap so you will see 2 grew into 3 yellow in the final picture of the scraps used and I didn't need both black cardstock so one was left untouched), then how they looked after the cuts and the finished page.

Thanks for looking!

Something Old & Something New

Hi Everyone!

I made this layout as part of a challenge for May 5th National Scrapbooking Day.  For the old Cricut Cartridge image cut I used Life's A Beach to make the flower & umbrella embellishment on the lower left page.  For the new Cricut Cartridge image cut I used Close To My Heart - Art Philosophy to make the cool journaling block on the left page, below "Memories".  I also used Printing 101 to make the title.

For me the coolest thing about this layout is the fact that I put 11 pictues on it!!  I am not nor have I ever been a 1 or 2 picture scrapper so it will be a rare occasion for you to see that in my scrapbooks.  I like to scrapbook 1 or 2 double-page layouts about an event/occassion/day and use lots of pictures, that's why I bought a digital camera, a professional Canon photo printer etc, to do just that! One thing that helps me get so many pictures on a layout....CTMH page flaps!  On the left page the pictures of my husband and I are held down with the little button embellishments, and when released open up to show 4 more photos!  Check them out!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and if you want to find out more about the page flaps you can purchase them on my site at www.canadianpapershaper.ctmh.com
