Making Card Base

· Fold piece B of black cardstock into a 5 ½” x 4 ¼” card base. Cut piece C from white cardstock, stamp with sentiment and mount inside card base.

Making Snow

· Using white cardstock piece D, cut a wave line to create snow as shown in picture 1, then turn top piece over then glue along the bottom of large piece. Be sure to only glue the bottom so that the penguins can be added behind. Next glue the white snow to the blue cardstock, and add the liquid appliqué in dots and snowflake designs and along the snow drifts, as shown in Picture 2. Set aside to dry while you do your Cricut work.

Building the Bookmark

· With black marker in the edges of the penguin only on the white bookmark, both of the 2” white penguins and the white border penguins. This will help to hide the white edges and make the project look finished.

· Glue the white bookmark on top of the black bookmark, being careful to match them up perfectly so that the bookmark’s flap will move freely. NOTE: one wing is different than the other so be sure you are putting your glue on the correct side to match the black.

· Glue the bookmark to the ‘shadow’ bookmark, making sure that no glue gets on the flap.

· Glue a 2” penguin shadow to the back of the bookmark with the feet ¾” from the top.

· With a cotton ball or felt, dob and swipe Create-a-shade pearl paint Z1039 from Close To My Heart, this will give the bookmark an icy/frosty appearance.

· Glue one of the 2” white penguins onto the black shadow penguin, sandwiching the bookmark penguin in between. Use the Xyron ‘X’ to make gluing easier.

· Take one penguin from the glue sheet and using the feature marks as a guide, align onto the white penguin. *Make sure you peel the white backing off, leaving the glue on the red plastic as this will help you align it perfectly. Use a bone folder to make sure you have good contact before peeling away the red plastic.

· Now that the penguin is sticky attach the black ‘outline’ penguin. Tweezers will help during these steps. Don’t forget the ‘nose’ needs to be attached for the big penguin, we will draw in the baby penguins as the nose is just too small to attach. Throw away the black feet and attach the orange feet instead.

· Using an embossing tray or a piece of paper to catch the excess flocking, sprinkle flocking over the penguin and press down hard with your finger. Shake off the excess then draw the eyes onto both penguins and a nose for the baby. Attach to the bookmark.

Building the Card

· Build the large penguin and the border penguins just as you did for the bookmark penguins, and the final step is to glue the 2” penguin onto his shadow.

· Use a heat gun to ‘puff’ the liquid appliqué, being careful to keep the gun moving to avoid scorching the puff, and then glue the piece to the black card base.

· Cut the middle ‘S’ from the word ‘Hiss’ to add to the word ‘Peeps’. Add peeps, on dimensional foam, to the lower, middle of the card.

· Apply glue to the back of the penguins then slide them between the snow drifts and then glue the front snow drift to the rear snow drift.

· Print ‘My’ on the left of the ‘Peeps’, then ‘and I are...’ to the right of the ‘Peeps’.
